What is an Ad Network?
An ad network is a broker between publishers and advertisers. The purpose of these ad networks is to provide ad campaigns to advertisers while helping publishers to earn money.
Here, publishers are bloggers or content creators. We earn money by displaying advertisements provided to us by ad networks. Website monetization with ads is one of the solid revenue-generating methods for online businesses.
How do Display Ad Networks Work for Bloggers?
As you know that ads are everywhere. It’s the smartest method for advertisers to promote products, campaigns and businesses all over the world.
In the online space, ad networks need websites of bloggers, business owners, and publishers to display their ads. Some blogs sell specific ad places on their website for a fixed rate while others prefer to use display ad networks for blogs to earn passive income every month.
But, you must have an established website.
First, you have to start a blog. Publish high quality content and increase your online readership.
Then, you can apply for different ad networks according to their requirements. Basically, you are selling advertisement space on your website.
Once approved, the ad network will show ads according to your audience interest and with the help of suitable advertisers. For example, if an advertiser wants to promote beauty products so they want to show their ads to visitors of a beauty blog, rather than a finance blog.
But, you don’t have to worry about that.
The ad networks will handle all this stuff. However, you have a choice to disable the ads wherever you want but I suggest to always discuss that first with your ad network because it can seriously affect your ad income earnings.
As I’m with Mediavine, I know their support is too good. They are always willing to guide you for best.
How Much Money can you Make with Display Ads?
For many websites, it depends on the type of ads or the pricing model. But, there are 2 common ways for best ad networks for bloggers.
1- Cost Per Click (CPC)
Blogs only earn money when a visitor clicks on the ad. Here, the publisher income solely depends on click through rate of ads.
2- Pay Per View or Pay Per Impressions
Under this model, advertisers pay an agreed amount for thousand impressions regardless of how many clicks they receive. The bloggers earn money based on how many people see their ads.
It depends on various factors. Just know that the more ads a visitor sees, the more impressions and money you make.
But, how much money do you make from ads?
The total income you make from ad networks depends on website content, website audience, country of visitors, website traffic, on page factors, and ads behavior. Every website generates different ad revenue based on all above factors.

Recently, monumetric is one of the best ad networks for blogs and publishers. It allows you to monetize your website with advertisers and get paid every month.
If you are constantly building up your blog then monumetric can increase your blog revenue.
The best thing about monumetric is that they have different plans for bloggers and publishers. If you get at least 10,000 pageviews every month, you can monetize your blog with ads. Propel program by monumetric is perfect for website owners that get at least 10k-80k views per month.
Initially, you have to pay a one time $99 fee to get your ads running. That’s a must-follow requirement. But, if you have more than 80k pageviews then you don’t have to pay this set up fee.

2- Ezoic Ad Network
Ezoic is a Google certified published partner ad network that is getting popular among new websites. I have seen many blogs with ezoic ads and I believe they pay a fair amount too.
People who moved to Ezoic have noticed an increase in ad income. It is also partnered with Google Adsense so you should expect some good ad experience.
Just like every other ad network, you have to measure your website speed and site caching. No matter what ads you use, it does affect your website user experience, speed and caching. But, most importantly, these ad networks are helpful in generating huge blog revenue.
Another cool thing about Ezoic is that they have great customer support and they will walk you through all the process.
Other good things about Ezoic are;

How much money you could earn from Google Adsense?
The overall income depends on the website traffic, region of traffic and niche. I did a quick test and here are the results. The results are not accurate but this is what I found.

4- Infolinks
Another smart way to monetize your website with ads is with infolinks. More than 350,000 websites use infolinks for making money online.
In case you don’t know, Infolinks is an in-text ad network. It’s different from other networks and may not help you make huge money. Another reason many websites are monetized with infolinks is that they can use infolinks with adsense too.
The intext ads don’t take up your website space. They are added to your text. I have not used infolinks so I don’t have much to say but if you want to try out, give it a try.
5- Media.net
Another beginner level ad network is Media.net. It’s perfect for people who don’t have huge traffic from the US and UK. I tested out media.net in the first year and I think the pay rate is not too much. You should expect to make less money with this program.
I have to say that I have not tested these ads recently and the website has greatly improved so I think it’s also a good choice.
But, there is a good thing about it.
All new bloggers can apply to media.net and there are high chances you will get accepted. Ofcourse, you should follow the requirements.
It’s also associated with Yahoo and Bing network. It’s safe to say that you are in good hands.

It’s ideal for big websites that get thousands of views every day. It’s known for its excellent RPM, wonderful support team, speed optimization, and wonderful user experience.
I can’t talk more about Mediavine because I know, I love it. My experience with mediavine has so far been great. The private facebook community is so much helpful for content creators. The team at mediavine makes sure to keep all content creators update with what’s trending and coming new.
Mushfiq, from the Website Flip, recently published a detailed mediavine analysis report where he has studied 1193 approved sites. He has shared great insights in the report about approved sites, niche, domain rating, backlinks and so much more.

Unfortunately, Adthrive only accepts websites with 100,000 pageviews. Before reaching that goal, you should apply to above mentioned ad networks and monetize your site.
Once, your website gets 100000 monthly pageviews, you can apply for adthrive.

Hi Afra,
Very useful post, a lot of people don’t know that there’s more than just Google Adsense.
Display ads aren’t really something I focus a whole lot on, my but clients usually end up following the path of Ezoic -> Mediavine -> Adthrive, although some stay with Mediavine because they like them so much.
All-in-all, great choices here!
