You started using Pinterest for massive blog traffic! Great.
You got to know that Pinterest is a great platform that can actually increase your traffic and overall sales. But what if you don’t know the best times to pin on Pinterest?
If you don’t pin at the optimal time, you don’t get the expected results on Pinterest.
Well, Pinterest has its own algorithm.
If you are on Pinterest, you should know there’s a great importance of timings. Pinterest looks for signals of user engagement to rank pins and add them to Smart Feed. That means if your content is posted at the perfect time, it’s likely to get seen by more people which give a powerful signal to Pinterest that your specific pins should show often to the users.
Basically, you have to show to Pinterest that your pins have a great user engagement and that’s the reason your pin should get seen by thousands of new people.
The simplest way is to find the best times to pin on Pinterest.
In this post, I’m going to discuss few methods to find out the best timings for Pinterest. Remember, it doesn’t necessarily mean if 9 p.m works best for me, it will also work same for you. Timings can be different and it’s quite okay.
Let’s find out the timings.
FIND THE BEST TIMES TO PIN ON PINTEREST
Recently, one of my regular blog readers asked me about best timings to pin on Pinterest. The idea of writing on this post also came from that question. It’s a good topic of discussion for bloggers who use Pinterest as their main source of traffic. As Pinterest is one of my top traffic referrers I thought I should do this post.
Here’s how to find best times for Pinterest.
1- Do Manual Pinning
First off, you have to be active on Pinterest. You can start it through manual pinning. Start pinning on Pinterest for continuous 30 days so that Pinterest knows you are active and your pins are also scattered.
Of course, your pins need to have better quality content and the images should be attractive.
If you’re totally new, I would suggest doing following steps;
- Use a Pinterest business account
- Optimize your Pinterest profile
- Optimize pins and boards
- Create tall pins for Pinterest
- Pin for maximum 50 times a day
- Join multiple Pinterest group boards
- Pin to several boards
- Repin other pins
Follow above steps and do manual pinning for at least a month to see how your content performs on Pinterest. It’s the basic exercise for new Pinterest bloggers. Check out my ultimate Pinterest SEO guide for bloggers.
If you have been using Pinterest for few months, you can skip this step and move to next one.
2- Use Tailwind Analytics
Tailwind is a powerful Pinterest scheduling tool for bloggers and marketers. It saves your time and sends your pins at times when you’re probably not available online. It helps to schedule pins for your own boards and Pinterest group boards. Click here to sign up for a free trial!
Tailwind helps to measure the analytics, top performing performs, monitor trends and other activities. If you really want to increase your visibility on Pinterest, Tailwind is a must.
So, if you’ve been using Tailwind, you probably know that it suggests you best times to pin. You can use those times and schedule your pins accordingly. Obviously, you shouldn’t use all the suggestions but pick few times and schedule your pins.
3- Use Google Analytics
You are probably making a big mistake if you aren’t using google analytics for your website. It isn’t an essential tool for finding best times to post content but it gives you an overall review of your website. You can find out your most popular posts, total page views, top traffic referrer etc.
I have discussed Google analytics and other free Google SEO tools in this post.
So, let’s get back to it.
When you visit the homepage of google analytics, you will get the website overview. Set a range of period and scroll it down. Below, you will see ‘when do your users visit?’. It shows the times when you’ve maximum visitors to your website. Use these statistics and choose the day and times to pin on Pinterest.
The screenshot shows that my best timings are 9am-1pm on Tuesdays.
But, you got to find your best timings.
4- Follow the Popular times
You can use the general guidelines for all pinners as suggested by top marketers, or companies.
According to QuickSprout, the best time to post on Pinterest is 8-11 pm, especially on Saturdays.
A/c to Fannit, the best times to pin are 2am-4am on Saturdays. And, SEJ has found out the best time is 9 pm.
In general, Saturday evenings are best times to share your pins on Pinterest. These are some popular times when users are most active and are more likely to consume content.
Go, find out your best time to pin!
To wrap up;
- Do manual pinning for a month and get yourself active on Pinterest.
- Use Tailwind analytics for best time suggestions.
- Track your google analytics to find out when your users are active.

Always try and test different timings to see best results. If you’re mostly pinning on weekends, then try to do more pinning on weekdays and see if it gives different results.
