How To Get ONLY Authentic Comments On Your Blog
I am just writing tips that worked for my blog and I really hope it works exactly on your site.
With that, let’s grab the 9 proven ways to get ONLY genuine comments on your blog.
1- Feed Your Readers With Valuable Content
When preparing content for your site, imagine yourself as a reader or an observer. Blogging content is more like a food for readers. I believe you don’t want to spoil your reader’s digestive system by providing poor content. Quality content means healthy food.
It doesn’t matter if you write lifestyle posts, health-related topics or even tutorial guides make sure you provide a valuable content. Readers only leave comments on thoughtful posts which are written excellently for building engagement with them.
You need to affirm if you are writing good content or not.
- Are you writing inspirational content?
- Do you add value to your content?
- Are you putting efforts for producing meaningful posts?
- Do you provide ultimate takeaway for your readers?
- Are you solving one common problem of your readers?
The list goes on.
To solve this problem, this post has 7 content creation tips that will make people take action on your blog posts.
Before you expect a few comments on your blog, it’s your responsibility to cross-question yourself about the content you produce. This strategy will also help you increase blog traffic rapidly.
With time, I’ve realized that creating a perfect blog post is the fundamental key to bringing traffic and engagement on your site.
2 – Have A Strong Opinion
One of the reasons for people posting comments on successful websites is the powerful opinions shared by popular bloggers. You must have read quality blog posts on the popular blog sites where readers love to comment and get their answers.
The reason is crystal clear.
Those top-notch bloggers are brave for taking stands and then, they stick to it.
The audience gets persuaded by bloggers or writers who are actually passionate about what they are writing. A number of fictional content writers have abilities to make readers fall in love with their stories and characters. The same principle goes for blog writing.
You need to be passionate about your writing.
A strong opinion drives people interest to add a comment for sharing their views. Sometimes, people may not agree with your content but fortunately, it was worthy to get feedback.
You should be ready to face criticism either harsh or soft.
Eventually, it helps you improve and grow. That’s what I think.
If you are ready for implementing these tips, make yourself also prepared for good comments.
Here is an example of a recent comment on my post ’27 best freelance services you can offer from home’.
3- Ask Readers To Take Action
You are making a big mistake if you don’t add a click to action in your posts. A persuasive CTA is one of the essential ingredients of creating a perfect blog post.
I often read posts and comments in several Facebook groups where people complain that they are not getting comments on their blogs. It makes a blogger feel upset when no one posts a comment.
But, I have also seen that bloggers are not asking for it in their contents.
Are you asking readers to post a comment?
I’m not saying to beg for a comment but use smart techniques to compel readers to take action right away.
It’s proven that you’ve to ask readers for taking the next step.
You need to ask a question to bring people in.
Below is an example of ‘click to action’ on my post, ‘how to create perfect blog content’.
4- Recommend A Product Efficiently
This might seem a new approach to you. I’ve personally observed that people respond to certain posts which are based on products or tutorials.
I absolutely understand that we can’t write about products and items every time. But, it’s a good idea to add an example of using a product or making a purchase from amazon etc.
Readers and buyers tend to post a comment on blog posts that adds a value. If you want your readers to write a comment, you also have to think strategically.
Lifestyle bloggers always add product-worthy contents. Even if a blogger writes on, ‘5 fashionable ways to look classy’ she would recommend few online stores, a classical jewelry item, a beautiful top or maybe a bold lip color.
Even though she writes about fashionable ideas but she mentions a product that is making her look classy.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to add a tutorial or a product review to get authentic comments on your blog. A simple sentence or a subtitle about a product would work fine.

5- Making Comments On Other Blogs
Blog commenting is a fun exchange game. To make people leave comments on your blog, you also need to take interest in others content.
It also helps to know fellow bloggers and their blogs. I’d suggest writing authentic comments on their blogs. Don’t just write, “Thanks, it was great”. Remember, your main purpose is building the relationship with bloggers so that they also return the favor and visit your blog site.
When I read something inspirational I always try to leave a comment. I think bloggers absolutely deserve an appreciation for the endless hours they had given in writing a post for us.
My personal advice is that if you ever find a helpful content make sure you drop one authentic comment. Don’t make yourself fall in the category of poor blog commenting for adding spam comments like thank you, it was good, wonderful post, check out my post etc.
It doesn’t take a minute or two to add a genuine comment.
6- A Smart Comment Plugin
Well, it works for me. I think many bloggers share comments in the hope that they will get their blogs visited by the blogger. There’s nothing wrong in it unless people are actually making true comments on your sites.
I use Comment Luv plugin on my site which certainly helps bloggers to share their recent blog post. I have noticed that readers often visit their content too. It’s a win-win.
Most importantly, I also use Akismet, a free WordPress plugin to prevent from hundreds of spam comments every day.
A reader comments on my blog where he also shared his recent post using comment Luv plugin.

7- Add Captivating Visuals
Images in any form absolutely work for blogs. As visuals tend to influence the readers a bit faster than written content you also need to add visuals to your blogs.
Compelling images are the rich ingredient of successful blog posts on the internet. Nowadays, there are multiple forms in which you can influence readers through visuals.
- Infographics
- Screenshots
- Stock photos
- Action buttons
- Photo Collages
Try inserting different sort of visuals with multiple sizes and determine what brings more engagement on your blog.
I use several stock photos on my website. These are some awesome free and paid stock photos you can use too.
8- Offer Something For Free
Have you ever noticed a sudden spike in blog traffic when you offer something for free to your readers?
I agree that it works many times. But, it’s also true that we cannot always add free content just for the sake of few comments on our blog.
One tip is to offer a freebie, a content upgrade that drives people to read your post and share their views how helpful the content was. The other proven tip is to provide readers with helpful links, small advice, piece of information, a good post that you just read somewhere or even a fellow blogger website link.
Even a link to your personal group or a popular hashtag can even work. I understand that we already provide such meaningful information than what else a reader expect from us?
What I have understood with the time that the word ‘FREE’ has got a lot of potential for driving engagement on your blog.
Don’t forget to ask for a genuine comment in a strategic way.
Trust me, people respond.
9- Facebook Groups
Okay, the last foolproof way to get authentic comments on your blog is utilizing Facebook groups. It works tremendously.
The criteria to get more comments on your blog is a bit challenging in facebook groups.
You can either post a highly-informative topic that automatically inspires readers to add comments on your posts or you can actively take part in several blog comment group threads.
There are facebook groups that have blog comment threads. You just need to take out time to comment on other blogs and in return, you’ll get comments too.
Make sure to join my facebook group ‘Bloggers Camp’ where I have promo threads every week.
I also understand this is a time-consuming activity but you can try it.
Even if you don’t take part in blog comment threads, you still get a bunch of comments on your blog if you share posts of others.
Facebook has proven to be a brilliant source of traffic which also boost up the engagement on blogs.
The simple facebook formula: Play your own role in order to expect more comments, page views, and subscribers.
Now, I’m leaving it over to you all.
What tips have you applied to increase your blog comments?
If you don’t get comments on your blog, what tips will you be going to implement?
I’d love to know your tips on having more comments.

Great tips, by the way :)! I’ve used some of the tactics you mentioned, such as Facebook groups, and using captivating images, but I don’t comment on other people’s blogs as much as I should. I read a lot of blog posts so maybe I should start commenting a lot more often!
Thanks Arfa, this is a really helpful post. I just started out so I need all the tips and guidance I can get.
Thanks Rosemary for sharing what’s working for you. Yes, you should definitely start blog commenting. It’s one of the proven tactics to get your blog noticed and seen by an audience.
I’m glad Farwa this post is helping you out. Just make a quick tour and get the best tips on improving your blog.
Great post Arfa. I definitely agree with all, especially having a ‘CTA’ as we call it in marketing. Appealing graphics also helps! The 9th point about offering something free, I am planning to implement on my blog very soon.
I’d love to hear your advice on something though, about commenting on other blogs: How do you go about finding blogs that talk about similar topics/content as you? Just a web search? Or something more specific?
Great tips! One thing I’ve been trying to work on is my closing calls to action. I think sometimes I just get tired after writing a post and I completely blank on what to ask them to do lol. I’ve definitely seen more comments lately though, so I’m glad of that!
Very useful tips. I didn’t really ask my reader to take any action on my post. Perhaps that’s why some post has never got any comment. Will try to incorporate that into my post.
Great tips, thank you!
Thanks Talisa for sharing your thoughts and the steps you are planning to use on your blog.
Okay, now the answer to your question. I follow several blogs of my niche. You won’t believe how addictive I’m to my emails. I read them daily and even try to visit every email I opened. Whenever I have time, I just quickly drop a comment. Otherwise, facebook groups have helped me to connect with like-minded bloggers who provide similar content. If the post is of high-quality and gives value I never ran without leaving my appreciation note or even a question. It works for me. You should be a loyal subscriber and a good reader to get blogs of your niche.
I hope that helps. If there’s anything more feel free to ask.
I appreciate your efforts for trying hard in crafting a post. At times, it’s tiring Stephanie. I’d suggest to take tiny 10-minute gap in your writing and get some water or a cup of tea. Make sure you add a strong CTA. It’s definitely important. Your readers want you to encourage them to add a comment. I’m glad you are getting comments.
Thanks Anmaria. I’m happy you’ve found these tips useful. Good luck.
Thanks Katie.
Thanks, it is always good to get added direction.
This post is great, Arfa! I think for my new blog the biggest thing has definitely been participating in Facebook groups. I have gained so many great comments and have been able to discuss a lot with people thanks to posting a ton in Facebook groups. I am sure that my comments would look much drier if I didn’t get so much of my traffic from Facebook groups.
Using a good commenting systems definitely helps too. I use Disqus for my blog because it notifies people and you can have great continued conversations about the topics discussed in the article instead of just a comment and a reply.
I have believed that commenting on blogs is almost dead. I see more interaction on social channels and haven’t really put forth much effort to keep the conversation going on my site lately. But these are some great tips.
Yes, definitely to having a strong opinion! I need to keep pushing my passion and voice out even more, for sure. Thanks for the reminder! This is a great blog.
This is beautifully written & an extremely informative post, Arfa! I’m just starting out in the blogging world and will definitely be implementing a lot of the strategies you recommended. I gotta admit, I didn’t know so much time went into blogging until I actually got into it… and now I appreciate good content more than ever because it requires so much from the blogger. Thank you for sharing all you’ve learned so far!
Thanks, Karina. Your comment is overwhelming. I feel so good when I read comments like this where readers appreciate the endless efforts! I’m still learning and I’m sure every successful blogger also follows the principle of learning. And, I’m pretty sure you’ve some key takeaways from this post to grow your blog.
Thanks, Arien. Yes, blogging is all about pushing the voice out and share it with the world. That’s how everyone grows. I appreciate your comment. Keep visiting.
Oh definitely! I still have to get some time to reread everything and let all the information sink in so I can apply it all, but I had to write and let you know how appreciative I am for all the work you poured into it. It shows!
It seems like my restless hours for creating power-packed content is now paying me off. I really admire when people comment and share their honest views. Yes, you’ll need to read and even, absorb the content so it actually helps your blog. You can even bookmark the page. Thanks, Karina 🙂
I like to read new things about blogging and you have pretty much explained lots in clear terms…I’ll take time to go through seo’s from the link you provided as I usually overlook it….I know CTA is helpful not only for blogging as a hear about it from marketing and communication trainings. Thanks for sharing Arfa
Hi Afra,
This is such a great post! Lots of amazing tips in here.
I’ve found for me that posting my blog posts in Facebook groups + commenting authentically on relevant niche blogs has worked pretty well. All my posts have opt-ins too so I’m sure that helps.
I love your idea to share a strong opinion. I’ve been sitting here for like 10 minutes reflecting on if my posts have strong opinions or not. I’ve had a few ideas for posts that would probably raise some eyebrows, but I guess I’ve been too scared (ek – who wants to admit that) to do it.
Oddly enough my first post was probably the most in your face, “The Miseducation & Misemployment of Nadalie.”
Like I hate to admit it, but I think I’ve gone soft.
Thanks for the self-reflection,

Great tips! I completely agree that FB groups help tremendously.
Thanks Poonam
Arfa, this post is awesome! Very informative, thank you so much. I have gotten pretty good at blogging, but you have stated a few things that I haven’t used yet and I will be working on those now. Thank you for sharing this information with all of us. Love your site!
I definitely need to start commenting more on other people’s blog posts. I need to somehow work it into my schedule because between writing and promoting your own posts I am ashamed to say I forget to comment on others. I will change my ways though! Great tips they will help a lot.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing! I definitely struggle with this on my blog.
I was just asking myself this yesterday and wondering ¨how do I get more authentic comments on my blog?¨ Sometimes the ¨thanks for sharing¨ by itself looks really spammy. I´m saving this post so I can read it several times and work on this. I also felt relieved when I read that just because I´m not getting the comments I hope for doesn´t mean my content isn´t getting viewed. I noticed I´m getting several comments from other bloggers (which is great) but not many from readers, so that got me a bit worried. Thanks for sharing this super helpful post!
Great tips! I’d never heard of CommentLuv so I just downloaded it to try it out 🙂
What great tips. So impressed with the comments you get. Congrats!

Thank you so much, Cristy! I’m glad you’ve found tips helpful.
Thank you for the ideas. I do several of these already, but have a lot of room to grown. Two things come up for me.
1. It feels like the most successful people in the blogging world are teaching blogging or coaching, not doing things like me – life coaching.
2. I’m starting to wonder about Facebook groups. I reciprocate and do my part, but often end up commenting on blogs I wouldn’t normally read. I also wonder about the authenticity of the comments on my blog from these groups and am not sure they are my target market. So, while my traffic goes up, is it valuable traffic?
I’m glad you asked this question, Linda. I’d like to break my answer into parts.
1- I agree most of the successful people are blogging in the popular niches but I’ve also read amazing bloggers in different niches like time management, productivity, happiness, motivation, meditation etc. To your surprise, they are doing wonders with their content and emails. I love to read such mind-boosting blogs and I see several bloggers share content like these. I also like what you write about ‘Life Coaching’.
2- See, facebook groups work excellent for promoting content and seeking immediate responses. But, I’d prefer to comment on blogs that helped me gain something new. Sometimes, I leave comments on productivity posts, management, freelancing opportunities, social media and of course, blogging. If anything is interesting, I often leave a comment (without the intention of what I would get in return). And, sometimes great opportunities just dive in! Taking parts in reciprocating threads is good for beginners but if you want to establish a preferred audience you should engage with blogs that interest you and are somehow relatable to your niche too. But, as per your subject ‘Life coaching’ covers multiple topics that fit every person (no matter what their niche is). If you are giving value and helping them out with life hacks, tips, advice, recommendations then you are on the right path!
And, if a person leaves a thoughtful comment or is actually interested in getting more content from you -that’s valuable! Honestly, you’ll get a combination of visitors (interested in content, sharing your content, becoming your loyal subscribers, following your content etc).
Spend time and see who’s coming again to your site.
I hope that helps 🙂
This is SO good! I’m all for authentic comments vs forced ones!
Great, Rachel! Let me know the results 🙂
Thanks for sharing with me Arfa! This is just what I was looking for. I think I’m going to try updating the “call to action” and adding a free “top tip”.
Yes, you should definitely consider SEO and learn how it can be useful for blogging purpose. Marketing trainings provide power-packed information! So good to have your feedback.
Hi Nadalie! I read your content and you write so well.
Yes, facebook + commenting definitely brings value. So good to see your success results with traffic generating tricks.
I appreciate your courage of accepting and finding your mishaps (because this is the scariest thing). However, I take a longer time for content re-checking. (which is so important).
Thanks, Christina! I appreciate your comment 🙂 I feel glad when a blogger learns something new from my site and implement it right away. Your coffee lover post ignite my love for another cup of coffee 😉
Yes, Emily you should definitely start commenting. I suggest to make it a daily practice and you’ll certainly start seeing positive results. Don’t expect big results from day one but it’s like a great exercise to continue the writing practice and engaging with other bloggers.
Thanks, Brittney!
Andrea, I’m so glad you found the post right on time! Blog commenting was the first thing I started practicing even before thinking to start a blog. This is one thing I love to do without any personal gains.
Yes, it’s a nice plugin! Let me know about the results.
Thanks, Cristy!
YAAAS! Nothing beats the power of human and authenticity is one that helps to propel forward.
Thanks, Kelley! These are great takeaways. Do tell me your result after implementing these tricks 🙂
I definitely agree with sharing only content you’re passionate about! Going further than that, it’s great to write about emotional + controversial topics…it not only shows what you’re passionate about, but they also tend to be things other people are passionate about too and will want to speak up for!
Haley, you made a good point. One should always try different nature of contents to urge readers for taking actions. Controversial topics are not always successful but yes, they boost up the engagement rate. Make sure, a person has a better understanding of the ups and downs of the post.
Yes really this is great Post. I have also followed some of the tips of Arfa Nazeer. Especially smart comment plugin and add captivating visuals. of course every point is very useful one.
Loved your blog! so cute, simple and very organized. How do you find the right facebook group for the topics you write about? I’m in cosmetics/ beauty manufacturing, new brands development and consulting and I blog about latest private label products or trends … I’m having a bit hard time to find what I’m looking for and I don’t want to create a new group as I’m so busy to maintain it :).
Arfa,
So much good advice, thank you. Asking for comments is such a simple step in ending a blog post, and yet I can appreciate the effectiveness.
And the CommentLuv plug in, I’d never heard of but I’ll definitely have to download it.
Again, thank you so much for your insights.
I’ll have to check out more of your posts, for sure.
Hey Tara,
I’m glad you liked my advice and I’m sure this will help you get more comments on your own blog. Having more comments on your blog also gives more engagement, and regular readers.Yes, try it out and see if it gets you more comments.
Enjoy other posts too and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Arfa
As always a great post with a lot of useful pieces of information. I know about Akismet. But this is the first time I am hearing about LUV plugin. I am very new in the blogging world and I’m very happy to get a lot of things to learn. But honestly, sometimes it feels like there is too much to learn. Could you please tell me how to avoid this feeling of being overwhelmed and how to make a step by step approach to learning and application of new information to my blog and how to fix my preferences, please? Great work once again.

That sounds great, Kimmy! I understand that. Many bloggers just don’t spend time interacting with other bloggers and make comments. So, I definitely encourage to do that.
I’m glad I found your blog today, I make a check list from your tips that will help me to get a few some more comments on my blog.
Thanks for sharing some helpful tips to improve my blogging!
