HOW I MADE MY FIRST $100 FROM BLOGGING
When I started blogging, I didn’t really have any monetization strategy. It was a lesson that I learned. Having a plan is significant for becoming successful in your blogging career. A blogging plan will take you in the right direction. Because, if you are blogging without any direction, content strategy and a marketing plan then you may struggle with the earning part.
To make a profitable blog, you need a plan.
The only thing I was sure about was to create great content. I emphasized more on writing valuable content rather than upping the numbers of total blog posts. As I’m also a freelance writer so it was difficult to maintain a balance between blogging and freelancing. There were months when I was inactive on my blog.
In blogging, you have to become noticeable!
When you start out, there are so many things you learn. It’s okay learning from mistakes, and moving forward.
So, I made my first $100 blogging from affiliate marketing and freelancing. One of my friends reached out to me and asked me how did you create a blog. I showed her the exact process and she used my affiliate link.
Next, I was constantly writing for freelance writers but I didn’t really use my blog as a place to hire me. I quickly set up a ‘hire me’ page on my blog. This 10-minute job landed me a freelance client through my blog. He was impressed by my blog content and was eager to hire me. He asked me to write 2 blog posts for $50 each. And, I accepted the offer even though the rates were cheap but I was glad that my efforts are paying me off.
That’s how I made my first $100 from blogging.
Now, I’m going to tell you some ways below to help you make $100 from your blog.
The Blogger’s Guide: How To Make $100 From Blogging
Depending on your blog content, and marketing strategies, the results may differ. Some bloggers make their first $100 easily however few bloggers have to cross the 6-month mark to generate the first income. It really depends on the blog and strategies you implement on growing your blog.
If you’re not sure how bloggers make money then you may like to read ‘How Bloggers Get Paid To Blog’
1- Affiliate marketing
Agree with me or not, affiliate marketing is still one of the best ways to make money blogging. The reason is that it requires one-time efforts and then it can get you consistent income. Of course, you’ve to be efficient in understanding how affiliate marketing works. It’s not something that will take longing years to bring results. If you follow effective affiliate marketing strategies or learn from experts then the process becomes painless.
In order to earn first $100 from blogging, you need to join some affiliate marketing programs.
Pick a few best affiliate products that resonate with your blog and audience. Figure out how will you promote affiliate products on your blog. Will you be writing reviews or tutorials about the product? Do you have an email list who’s willing to know what products you’re using?
Let’s suppose that a $50 product has an affiliate commission of $10 per purchase. Set a goal of making 10 sales of that particular affiliate product. If you sell ten affiliate products, then you will be able to make $100.
Things to do;
- Join affiliate marketing programs like Shareasale, Commission Junction, Amazon Affiliates etc.
- Choose 2-3 affiliate products.
- Promote affiliate products using different strategies.

2- Freelance services
The next thing I would encourage new bloggers to make $100 from blogging is by offering freelances services.
Most importantly, you don’t have to be expert to do freelancing. If you’re a blogger, you can do a couple of tasks and make some money. You can offer freelance writing, social media management services, create Pinterest templates, editing and upload blog posts, keyword research, blog audit, install a theme etc.

Things to do;
- Set up a hire me page on your blog.
- Mention all the services you are capable of doing along with the rates. If you are starting out, keep attractive rates.
- Apply to Fiverr, upwork, and other freelance sites to find jobs.
- Find freelance work opportunities in facebook groups.
- Introduce starter packages to attract new clients.
Even if you win one client or two, and do the beginner’s work you can make your first $100. But, the only difficult part, is to market your services and find opportunities.

3-Write Reviews/Sponsored posts
If making your first $100 from blogging is your goal, then try out writing product reviews on your blog. When you’ve got a blog, you have an audience who reads your content and follow your updates. The same thing applies to social media profiles where you’ve got a readership. It’s obvious that the more engagement, and followers you’ve, the better opportunities you will receive.
For example.
Grammarly provides an affiliate program. When you sign up as an affiliate, you get a chance to win a bonus of $25. To avail the $25, you have to write a review post on using Grammarly and recommend it your followers. It’s a simple, and clean way to make money blogging.
Next, join some sponsored content and review sites. You will need to submit your blog and other social media details. Some may also ask for a media kit.
To make money with sponsored posts, you will have to do extra work. Your blog should have a great theme design to stand out. It should have consistently engaged readers. Your social media presence should influence users.
Many people use Instagram for making money. And, it’s where most lifestyle bloggers get paid. You can learn more different ways to make money with Instagram.
Some websites have conditions to get your blog accepted. Maybe, your blog needs to be 3 months old. It should have only unique content. Your blog should be easily indexed by search engines etc.
I highly recommend you to read my latest post how to make money from sponsored blog posts to get details on working with brands.
Here are few sponsored sites to apply;
- Sponsoredreviews.com
- Izea
- Linqia
- Maven
But, once you’re accepted then you can easily get sponsored post opportunities for your blog and social media accounts.
I have not really used these sponsored sites yet but I do get opportunities directly. Mostly businesses contact me through my email and discuss the offers.
4- Guest posting
If your blog has maintained a good DA then you can even charge for paid guest posts on your blog. You will promote a new blogger on your blog. Schedule the new guest posts to your social media accounts and email list.
Or, if you have strong network connections with other bloggers then you can start offering guest posting services. Either way, guest posting will help to widen your reach to new bloggers, and other businesses. This will give exposure to other services, you offer, on your blog.

5- Selling Ebooks
Now, ebooks can be a great way to make money from blogging. These are less risky, easy to promote, and less time-consuming. Writing an ebook isn’t about putting all of your energy, money and time into it. With an ebook, you’re helping your readers with a better understanding of the topic along with experience, examples, and stories.
You can start with creating a small ebook, and sell it on your blog. Now, there are many bloggers who make $1000 with a 20-page ebook. Don’t compare yourself to them.
This blog post teaches how this blogger makes money selling ebooks.
Here’s a free blogging ebook I offer as a freebie to my blog readers. It’s just an example to show you. However, you can do your own search to find out what sort of ebook you’d like to create.
In fact, think it this way.
Let’s suppose you create a small ebook that covers one main topic. The price of the ebook is $9. So, if your $9 ebook makes 12 sales, you are able to make $108.
If you want to learn how to create an ebook, I would recommend Lena Gott’s Ebook Creation Guide. It’s affordable too. The guide has easy to follow framework that helps to create your own ebook and sell it right away. Click here to review the guide.
Things to do;
- Research the idea.
- Write the content.
- Hire a designer to do the ebook cover or do it yourself if you have designing skills.
- Set up a sales, and payment system through Sendowl etc.
- Market the ebook.
Furthermore, you can also sell it Amazon and get paid.
6- Displaying Ads
It may be frustrating to make $100 with displaying ads, but if you’ve managed to get consistent traffic then chances are high. There’s no risk adding ads to your blog. But, the truth is, you can make money with ads at a slower pace as compared to other methods. Some months can get you earn good amount whereas few months can be terrible in terms of money.
Some of the ad networks to apply are;
- Google Adsense
- Ezoic
- Mediavine
- Raptive Ads
- Propeller ads
These ad networks are easy to apply if you’re a new blogger.
If you don’t like placing annoying ads, then find more on How to monetize your blog without ads.

7- Coaching services
This is another form of service you can offer if you’re highly skillful in what you do. Look at your academic background or experience. Figure out if you’re able to provide coaching services. Or, maybe you’ve given online tutorials before.
You need to know if you ready to work one-on-one with other people in your niche. All you have to do is to find your ideal clients through promoting your blog in different ways. You should be visible to your followers, and eager to offer help to them. Teach them what you’re best at. When people know your experience, and skills then they will most likely to learn more from you.
You can offer;
- 30-minute session for $50
- 30-minute coaching lessons for $50
If you successfully found two clients, then your goal to make $100 is achieved.
Remember, you should first know the topic or area you would like to help. Produce awesome content around that topic. You can use Facebook lives, and Instagram stories to directly connect with them. Just show them that you are a wonderful teacher or a coach. In the next step, ask them if they would like one-on-one coaching lesson for them.
