Let me assume:
You’ve just started your own blog. Maybe, it’s six months old or a newly born.
You have stumbled top most articles on how to get maximum traffic to a new blog, how to increase blog traffic or even, how to get my blog noticed?
But, you aren’t happy with most of the results as the guides are usually written for individuals who are already blogging for years and looking for advanced methods to increase more traffic to their sites.
That was exactly how I felt when I started out. I was as clueless as you are today.
As a blogger myself, I can relate to disappointment when my blog was not getting enough traction and I was feeling a bit discouraged.
(This post contains affiliate links)
Because, I was working on writing blog posts, managing the WordPress at the back-end and doing all the essential steps I was asked to take – I was not happy with the statistic data!
However, one day I whooped out to myself when I got first 100 page views! You see, I was just like you when I started out blogging. It’s totally okay if you are going through fewer traffic views.
Don’t fret! Your blog will start getting more visitors and you’ll be amazed by new opportunities too.
Relax and enjoy the post.

HOW DO I GET MAXIMUM TRAFFIC TO MY NEW BLOG?
Before we jump into simple ways to get more traffic to a new blog, I expect two things from you.
1- Hard Work
2- Patience
If you stick to these two things – you are almost ready to skyrocket your blog performance in a month or two even if you are totally a new blogger.
Are you excited to get maximum traffic to your new blog?
I don’t want to create more hype about it.
Follow these essential steps if you wish to see an increase in page views or new visitors.
Let’s delve into the simple criteria that you need to take to increase blog traffic as a new blogger. There isn’t any rocket science, you have to put hard work and expect results.
MAKE THE FIRST BEST IMPRESSION TO NEW VISITORS
Would you ever visit a blog again that looks uninteresting, humdrum?
I assume you probably say NO.
If you ask me, I would promptly answer in a big no too.
The reason is simple.
Your blog is an online empire, founded by yourself. It’s your blog which can help you become popular, build a tribe, earn money and create a support network. Even, if you’ve no intention to enjoy the astounding perks of blogging, it should give an attractive appeal to someone who randomly visits to seek some inspiration. Make sense?
That is why I always encourage my readers to pick a responsive blog theme that impresses visitors. Some blogs are so beautifully designed that I can’t take my eyes off.
Few of my favorites are Genesis Framework and Elegant Themes. These are pretty affordable and gives a completely new appeal to your blog. It’s a lifetime purchase so definitely worth spending for.
Website design truly matters in getting more traffic to your blog. It speeds up blog performance and keeps the visitors engaged for a longer time.
You can read more about my profitable blogging decisions here.
Pro Tip: Always use ‘Preview’ before hitting publish on your blog post. It’s a test to see whether you’ve completed all the steps or missed any headline, hyperlink, bold text, image etc. (I often take more than 25 previews before I hit publish)
CREATE VALUABLE CONTENT FROM THE FIRST DAY
I admit it.
When I was totally new to blogging, I wrote a number of blog posts on my very first blog (I still write few posts monthly on my wordpress.com blog – I can’t ignore it at all because my first blog gave me the hard push to start this amazing blog) Sometimes, it was more like a text message with a poorly written headline without any intention of increasing more traffic or gaining more followers.
It made me feel thrilled and overjoyed. And, when someone makes a comment or like it, I was in high spirits.
With time, I have understood the significance of producing meaningful content and making it more visual.
Since my niche covers in-depth and short posts on blogging tricks, freelancing, making money online, social media growth etc so I’ve to write content that gives actionable tips to readers.
Whatever your niche is, try to write compelling content and work on producing clickable headlines.
If you want to get maximum traffic to your new blog then your aim should be writing valuable blog posts. It will eventually help you increase website traffic in the long run. By making simple changes to the existing blog posts, you can also gain new visitors every day.
Read these tips to develop a content approach that helps to get traffic to your new blog.
- Generate fresh topics – Google has an answer for almost everything. Use these new blog post ideas that never fails.
- Content Types – I’ve got a tip for you.
Try producing different types of content and see what’s bringing you the most traffic. Few content types are descriptive blog posts, list posts, list posts with a lot of images and gifs, in-depth blog posts with white space and short paragraphs, infographics, round-up posts etc - Catchy headlines – Use tools like Coschedule Headline Analyzer to pick up the right headline for blog posts.
- Quality content – Make sure your posts add value to readers. If it’s not, rethink about it and see how you can make it better.
You can also use free tools like Grammarly, Hemmingway to auto-correct spelling mistakes etc.
Grammarly is one of my favorite online grammar checker tools. It’s like a virtual grammar tutor to highlight missing commas, capital letters, improper use of words and multiple other features.
INSERT GORGEOUS IMAGES TO ENHANCE MORE BLOGGING APPEAL
Do you get fascinated by breathtaking images?
Everything is getting more visual today. Take the example of live stories, webinars, intuitive presentations or even social networks.
Can you imagine using Google without seeing those connecting images?
It feels like there’s nothing happening around.
The same goes for eye-captivating images bloggers use in their blog posts. Try inserting photos at different portions of blog posts. It doesn’t matter if your topic isn’t focused more on images but you can still add one connecting image that makes readers engaged to your blog.
Blog posts with images tend to get maximum traffic as compared to blogs that don’t consume photos at all.
Few places to collect free images are Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash. However, there are loads of websites that offer free photos.
But,
Buying premium photos help you stand out from the crowd and also makes your brand more recognizable. My go-to-places are Pixistock and Styled Stock Society.
Try out their quarterly plans, and you won’t regret.
HARNESS THE POWER OF BLOG COMMENTING
This is the first strategy that I used even before I seriously started blogging. I’m an avid reader of online stuff including blog posts, articles, news etc. Whenever I find something worth reading, I always left a comment to appreciate the writer or the blogger at the other end.
For instance, I enjoy reading Elna Cain’s power-packed posts on freelancing so the next step I often make is to leave a genuine comment on her posts.
If you are new to blogging, you can find interesting blogs that give value or are more relevant to your blogging niche and then make a comment. Do it as an exercise daily or weekly.
Blog commenting is the simple strategy for getting free traffic to your new blog and also having backlinks.
Definitely, try it!
Most importantly, I often got asked by bloggers about the methods to increase comments to their new blogs.
Does your blog get poor engagement rate and no one bothers to leave a comment to your site?
Honestly, it happens even with experienced bloggers.

USE SOCIAL MEDIA FROM BEGINNING
Many new bloggers commit the mistake of not setting up social media accounts from the very first day.
Social media networks and other bookmarking sites are commonly the number one source for increasing more traffic.
It doesn’t matter if your blog has few blog posts or an enormous collection, you need to own a social media presence.
Tips you can use to get maximum traffic to your new blog through social media;
- Create a social media account on Google Plus, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
- Create a facebook page for your blog.
- Add Social Share buttons to your blog.
- Use bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon, Digg, and Reddit.
- Join multiple social media communities including Facebook groups and Google communities. ( Click here to join Blogger’s Camp on Facebook to promote your content and connect with others)
Once, you are active on social media new visitors will be coming to your blog and leave feedbacks. The only key to maintaining a strong social media influence is to hold a grip on consistency and understanding the strategies to grow on social media.
BUILD AN EMAIL LIST (which is hard!)
Want to get free traffic to your blog?
Start collecting emails and build an email list for your website.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve one or thousands subscribers – they are the one who believes in you and your content.
They trust more than anyone and they want to get the best from you.
One thing, I recommend you to do from the very first day is to create a ‘SIGN UP’ form and display it on the homepage of your blog.

I usually get better comments on my social media accounts than the blogs themselves, except for spam. The best way for me to get traffic is through networking in blogger groups on Facebook, Tribes, StumbleUpon, and Pinterest.

The look and usability are the two most important things (in the first twenty seconds at least)!

Hi Arfa! I have to admit that when I started out blogging (on Wix), I had no idea of what was expected of me! Or my blog! I didn’t have a niche, my email subscribers were my family and friends and the only comments I got were mere thank yous from relatives (which I cherished!) 🙂
But now since moving on to wordpress.org, I have learnt that a niche is very important. Further, I also need to leverage social media to get publicity. And I am still learning. It’s work in progress.
Thank you for these tips!

I’m so impatient! Do you think it’s worthwhile to invest in a domain immediately, or build a following on e.g. blogger before spending the money? I don’t want to put the cart before the horse…
Thanks for the helpful post 🙂
Arfa Nazeer says
Hi, Monica! That’s a common question I always read online and try my best to give you the right answer.
The answer is simple. If you are impatient and cannot wait for another 3 years to skyrocket your blogger account, get yourself a domain now! Free platforms take time – extreme time and continuous efforts. However, a domain and investment in a hosting company will make your work a lot easier. Blogs with a proper domain (exclusive of blogspot.com, wordpress.com, wix.com) get easily ranked. If you put consistent efforts, plan the content, and show yourself on social media you can achieve your goals. Only, if you are passionate about blogging or have a set goal.
However, if you are just blogging for fun – any free platform even without a domain is totally fine.
You will only build a following when you treat your blog seriously.
I believe a little investment somehow keeps you close to your business or blog.
Good Luck!
Monica says
Thank you 🙂
