Love reading interviews from successful bloggers, and business owners? If this is why you’re here, you are on the right page.
Today, on shemeansblogging, I’m excited to host a Q/A with Amira who’s a lawyer, business coach and also make six figures. I have known Amira from quite a good time now, and she is amazing!
Not just she is a practicing lawyer but she helps businesses and bloggers with the legal aspect of running a business blog online. I was so impressed by how she manages her job, and even her blog.
Without further wasting any time, let’s quickly ask some questions and get responses from Amira.

I have introduced this blogger’s interview series to inspire and motivate growing bloggers. These series and interviews are so refreshing to read. These type of Q/A give you an overview of how a blogger or a business owner got started, what challenges they faced, their routines, what inspires them and how did they build their blogs.
Let’s do this.
BLOGGER’S INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AMIRA FROM A SELF GURU
Here goes the first question.
1- Let’s talk about you! What is your story? How did you get started online? What do you do? What’s your blog/business about?
I’m a lawyer, blogger and business coach from ASelfGuru.com. During the day, I’m a lawyer and at nights and weekends, I’m a blogger and business coach where I help other bloggers and entrepreneurs build their online businesses from scratch and make six figures.
I started my blog last year because I’ve always wanted to make a greater impact on the lives of others through my legal and business expertise.
I’ve been working full-time as a lawyer for more than 8 years but have been teaching business and legal skills and coaching online entrepreneurs for over 10 years now. I have owned multiple businesses from a young age, so it was only natural for me to bring those skills in my blogging business as well.
Turns out, I really love blogging because it allows me the freedom to work from anywhere at my own pace and reach a bigger audience.
It’s been a very rewarding and enriching experience for me building a six figure blogging business in less than a year while working full-time as a lawyer!
So now I teach others how to do the same while also helping them protect their online business legally!
2- What’s one thing that inspired you? Who do you look up to for motivation and inspiration? How do you stay motivated all the time?
I could name so many successful entrepreneurs that inspire me daily! But I’ve always said this – progress inspires me! Producing results every day and achieving my goals is what keeps me motivated.
So for instance, solving someone’s legal problem whether it’s a client at work or a fellow blogger online is a motivation of its own. It fuels my passion to do more!
I enjoy it because I know I’m making a difference in someone’s life. That’s the difference between living an ordinary and extraordinary life. Some people live for themselves while others aim bigger and want to make a positive impact on someone’s life.
So for me, being able to help thousands of bloggers and entrepreneurs with my legal templates or my blog posts or anything else is quite motivating!
When I receive positive feedback on my legal templates, that shows me that I’m on the right track with my business and also serves as a huge motivation to keep hustling.
I truly believe motivation lies within us and when we pursue something we love, whether that’s a job or a business of our own, we will be inspired by our results.
3- Do you think if there’s any hindrance to work from home, and manage everything? If yes, how do manage with that?
For me, working from home presents no hindrance because I’m naturally very disciplined and organized. I stick to my planned schedule for the day and don’t get distracted. I love being able to work in my pajamas! But I could see how working from home can be distracting for some people.
4- Let’s talk about goal setting! How do you plan and set your goals? Any goal-setting process that you’d like to share?
Goal setting is easy for anyone but it’s the achieving part that requires work!
My process for goal setting is very simple. I set short-term and long-term goals all the time and my biggest tip would be to write down your goals and look at them daily.
I use Asana as my electronic calendar to keep track of my goals but I still write down my daily “to do” list, which are my goals for that specific day.
My goal-setting process also involves meditating first thing in the morning to gain clarity and focus every day. When I wake up, I meditate to clear my mind and start the day fresh.
This way, I’m able to clearly map out my goals, get new ideas and work towards achieving them!

5- According to your experience, what are 3 basic things every new blogger should know about? Any advice for someone who’s just starting out in the same field as yours like blogging, online business, freelancing etc.
Great question! Here are the 3 things every new blogger should know about:
- How to Blog Legally – just like any business, with blogging, you need to learn how to blog legally and the first basic step is to make sure you have all 3 legal pages on your website before you launch! So take the time to invest in legal templates written by a lawyer such as my Legal Bundle to protect yourself and your business from lawsuits.
- Invest in the right blogging tools and resources – I’d say don’t waste time trying to learn everything on your own and get frustrated! Instead, invest in the right blogging courses and tools to get started painlessly. That’s how I was able to launch my blog in 7 days while working full-time as a lawyer.
- Learn Google and Pinterest SEO from the beginning – both Google and Pinterest SEO are super important to bring traffic to your blog! So take the time to learn these from the beginning to maximize your time writing blog posts that actually rank well on Google. The same thing with Pinterest, it’s an excellent source of free organic traffic but you have to learn the tips and tricks first.

6- As you’re a lawyer, what do you have to say on legal aspects of blogging or online business? Many bloggers and biz owners are still unaware of legal side of blogging. What do you have to say on that? What are must-have legal pages every blogger must have?
The legal side of blogging is overlooked sometimes because as a new blogger, you have so much work to do and you are learning everything from scratch!
But it’s very important to protect your blog legally from the beginning. Otherwise, all this hard work and countless hours you spend building a business can be taken away with just one lawsuit! Everyone knows lawsuits are long and expensive.
So at the very least, you need to have 3 legal pages on your blog before you launch. These are:
- Privacy Policy
- Disclaimer and Disclosures
- Terms and Conditions
All three legal pages above serve a different purpose and you can read more about them here.
If you’d like to get these legal pages professionally written by a lawyer and make your blog legally compliant within minutes then take a look at my best selling Legal Bundle here.
7- Discuss 3 biggest challenges you faced when you started online? And, how did you overcome those challenges?
I didn’t struggle with blogging much because just like my recommendation above, I invested in the right tools and courses to grow and monetize my blog quickly.
But blogging with a full-time job is not easy. So the only challenge I faced and still do is finding the TIME to do everything I want! While working as a lawyer during the day, I don’t have the luxury of time on my hands to get to all my blogging projects whenever I want to. This delays my progress because there are only limited hours in a day.
So I do the best I can to maximize my limited time and still be productive!

8- How do you make money online? What are your income streams? Do you have any monetization tips for anyone who wants to start online or are new to blogging? How long it took to make your first income?
It’s always best to have multiple income streams. This way, you are not placing all your eggs in one basket.
In my blogging business, I make money through different ways like affiliate marketing, selling my own products, through my coaching services and creating sponsored content.
I made my first $1000 blogging in my first month and then doubled that income in my second month when I made a total of $3700! From there, my income kept increasing until I made $20,000 in a month! You can read my first income report here to gain insight on what worked for me.

9- What’s your typical day look like? How many hours you spend on your blog/business?
I get asked this question a lot! I think it’s an important one, especially for those that are blogging with a full-time job like me.
Needless to say, my schedule is pretty hectic.
Here’s how my typical day looks like if everything goes as planned 🙂
4-4:30AM: Wake up and have my coffee
5-5:30AM: Meditate and map out my day on paper. I like to write my “to do” list every day. It keeps me focused on what I need to accomplish in a day.
5:30-6:30AM: I try to exercise during this time but some days, I can’t if I have a lot of work to do
6:30-7:00AM: Check my work and business emails and respond to questions from customers. Interact on social media somewhat
7:00AM- Get in the shower to get ready for my day job
12:00-1:00PM – Take a break and respond to emails, social media comments, etc
7:00PM – Get home from my job and start working on my blog for 2-3 hours
10:00-11:00PM – By this time, I’m brain dead so it’s time to sleep!
Once a week, I take a break and don’t do any blogging work because that’s my day to decompress and recharge my batteries.
10- What’s your favorite quote or saying?
There are so many. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes –
1. Life is short and you only live once, so make it count!
2. Every successful entrepreneur was once an amateur
11- What book(s) you recommend to bloggers, biz owners or hustlers to read? Any books that inspired you?
A lot of great books come to mind right now. One that particularly helped me on a personal and professional level is called Million Dollar Habits by Brian Tracy.
This book taught me how to be an extraordinary individual by changing my habits! Your habits define you as a person and we all have positive and negative habits.
It taught me the best-proven habits of millionaires, so I could learn how to achieve bigger results in my personal and business life.
Give it a read to transform your bad habits into good habits to double or triple your income and become more successful in all areas of your life!
12- What tools or skills you think are required to run a successful blogging business? List your favorite blogging tools.
Here’s my complete list of favorite blogging tools and resources I use daily to make $20,000 per month blogging.
These are awesome tools and resources that will work for you whether you are a beginner or advanced blogger!
For example, I know I can’t live without Tailwind, Kartra (my email marketing platform), Pinterest templates, Freshbooks, Smarterqueue and tons of other blogging tools and courses that make blogging easier for me!
13- Did you ever feel like giving up on your blog? If yes, what one important thing you did to turnaround the situation? Also, if you could also share your blogging level at that time?
No, I never felt like giving up but there were times in the beginning when I was first creating the legal templates that I struggled a lot with time and creating a healthy work life balance! There were many sleepless nights because I had a lot to do and just not enough hours in the day to finish everything.
When I first dived into blogging, I had no idea that it would be so time consuming to do everything on the backend. For example, creating the perfect sales page for your product, graphics, writing emails, promoting on social media, etc all takes so much time!
And I was simply exhausted with everything and at those times, honestly, blogging felt harder than being a lawyer. I remember I’d come home from my job and work on my blog for HOURS and still not feel like I had done enough. At those times, I’d ask myself, “why am I struggling so much?”
Then I realized it’s because I was still a new blogger trying to figure out everything and just needed to be patient. Whenever you start something new, there are always growing pains and you just have to be patient and not give up!
In the end, all those sleepless nights were worth it because now my legal templates are appreciated by thousands of bloggers and entrepreneurs.

14- How did you grow such a raving audience online? According to you, what is the best strategy for building & growing an audience? Do you suggest using social media, email list or any other idea to convert visitors into daily readers?
So far, it’s my email list and social media. I’ve not paid for any advertising yet. Having my own Facebook group also helps a lot because we are a supportive group of bloggers and entrepreneurs sharing the same goals and helping each other every day.
Also, I get a lot of repeat customers because let’s say, you purchase my Legal Bundle and need another legal template for your business in the future such as a freelance contract or sponsored posts contract template or anything else, you are more likely to purchase from me again.
That’s why it’s so important to produce a high-quality product in the first place that others will love! My business motto is giving more than I receive.
Arfa’s recommendation: If you’re not sure about legal aspects of running a blog or business, Amira published this ultimate legal guide for bloggers and businesses.
In my case, I’ve 10+ legal templates that I sell, so it definitely helps when someone appreciates the first product they buy from me because the second time, they are ready to buy anything else from me!
15- Finally, what solid tips you’ve for aspiring bloggers or individuals who want to grow a successful business online? Do you suggest investing in digital products? How do they become successful & earn decent income? Do you suggest coaching or masterminds? What’s your go-to learning process?
I can only speak from my personal experience and share what worked best for me! The only way I was able to become a six figure blogger in less than a year was because I invested in the right blogging courses and tools to grow and monetize my blog quickly.
I stayed focused at all times and knew that I had to manage my limited time wisely if I wanted to taste success. This post explains the steps I took to make $20,000 per month.
As you already know, for me, time is money. So I’d say learn from the best out there and from someone who has already built a successful blogging business. That could be a course you take, enroll in a coaching program or buy a book. Everyone learns differently.
I prefer videos and coaching calls. This way, I can interact with the other person easily and can ask questions.
16- Do you have any special resource/offer to share? Where and how we can connect with you?

That was it!
I loved all the answers by Amira especially how does she manage her job and blog at the same. Her routine is pretty hectic but she does it so well.
