I believe a blogger is a multitasking machine. The solo individual is responsible to handle his/her whole business alone. Obviously, if you have a big business you can hire virtual assistants, social media managers, content creators, marketers to take your business to another level. But, there are many individual bloggers who are operating their whole blog all alone. If you are one – pat your own shoulder 😉
Today, I’m talking about you – the one army man or woman. How can you get more blog work done? How can you be consistent in your blog life?
Below, I am discussing a few quick ways to increase your blogging productivity.
Important Read: Follow these 5 steps to be consistent in blogging life
1- SET SMART BLOGGING GOALS
I made a stupid mistake when I started out. I didn’t set any goals. Just started writing content and published it right away. There was no strategic planning.
With time – I realized one thing. That’s GOAL SETTING. Instantly figured out the importance of goal setting. Bought few online books and read them thoroughly. I attended a few webinars to build my focus. I subscribed to a few amazing sites like Michael Hyatt, Zen Habits, and Medium. Every day, there is a new chapter that opens my eye.
From that day, I started setting my goals. I learned how complicated things turned into simple achievable tasks. I had a process to set my blogging goals and the passion to achieve them. Being a freelance blogger and a freelance writer I have to set deadlines even for small and tiny tasks. You already know there’s so much on our shoulders.
Start planning your blogging goals. If you don’t plan today, you regret tomorrow. If you are enthusiastic about your blog growth and success, you’ve to create SMART goals.
Make your goals;
- Simple
- Meaningful
- Actionable
- Relevant
- Timely
I strongly suggest focussing on goal setting. It’s truly essential for a better blogging life. You would love to read about ‘How to set blogging goals that bring success to your business’.
2- PUT GOALS IN A PLANNER
I always recommend my followers to plan, write and measure their goals. It is important to know what are your blog plans? What are you going to do with your blog? What are your daily tasks?
I write my weekly goals in my planner and keep them organised. I create daily to-do-lists for my blog. There are days when I plan out content. Then, there are days when I schedule my social media. Moreover, there are days when I do freelance writing for my clients. All these assignments are important. I have to take care of small and big tasks. I don’t want to miss an important work due to lack of productivity.
If you note down everything in a planner and do it accordingly then you will see the results. You’ll have more work done. A planner helps to know what to do next. What tasks you’ve to finish by tomorrow? After finishing your tasks, you can simply mark a tick and move forward. At the end of the month, you can actually measure your efforts on your blog.
Nadalie created a gorgeous planner. It’s called ‘Slay your goals planner’. The design of the planner is super clean and beautiful. It has more than 60 pages! You can set your goals, design them and measure them at the end. It’s like your own goal setting notebook which keeps you accountable for all your blogging tasks.
I also suggest reading Interview with Nadalie on how to slay your blogging goals.
What you need to do;
1- Outline your goals
2- Put them in the planner
3- Keep your planner on the desk where you work
4- Choose a day in a week or a month to fill your planner with multiple blogging tasks.
5- Use different colors to highlight important deadlines
6- Make your planner interesting
Some of the outstanding features that make this planner look amazing;
- Motivational quotes
- Guiding prompts
- Multiple layouts and designs

Now, you’ve set blogging goals and you’ve got an outstanding planner.
Moving on to the last step.

3- REMOVE DISTRACTIONS WHILE BLOGGING
The third most important step is to remove distractions while blogging. The Internet has fancy attractions. The Netflix, Youtube, Facebook, Mobile notifications, Messenger pop-ups, Skype calls etc.
Treat your blog as a business or a job. When you are blogging, try to stick only with your blog tasks. Maybe there’s some viral video you might be interested to watch. Or, there’s a message from your friend asking for a coffee meeting. Or, a list of 79 unread emails (Okay 240). Maybe, you get notified about a new song on Youtube.
Keep all other tabs close. I repeat. Keep all other tabs close.
This is the magical tip.
If you pick one task and focus on completing it within the time frame then it’s your win.
Next time you start writing a blog post, creating images for your blog, curating content for social media – make all other tabs close and mobile on silent mode.
I personally follow this step while I’m on work mode. I even use an app called Toggl to track my time. Believe me, the clock ticker creates a sense of urgency and makes me realize about the worth of time.
