PINTEREST FOR BLOGGERS – GET STARTED WITH PINTEREST

As a beginner, start with following steps;

1- Set up a business account
2- Create your Pinterest board that shows all of your pins (Look at SheMeansBlogging Board here)
3- Create other relevant boards to your niche.
4- Make your profile keyword optimized.
5- Make all of your pinterest boards keyword optimized
6- Repin third party pins to all of your boards
7- Join a couple of Pinterest group boards

Here’s how my Pinterest board looks like.

Before you move a step forward, head over to the post where I talk about in this post, How does Pinterest work – The first Pinterest lesson!

The importance of Pinterest for bloggers can be identified by the fact that it brings the highest referral traffic. Studies show that 88% of the Pinterest users have purchased one of the products they’ve ever pinned. This shows the platform has the potential to send users to e-commerce websites and blogs.

It also highlights the point that Pinterest can be used by bloggers as a direct source of the traffic to their blogs. Simple!

Moreover, millions of bloggers are using Pinterest to promote their own blogs. Whether the blog is about healthy recipes, DIY, fitness or technology Pinterest offers unlimited space to every user.

After setting up the account, you can pin images to different boards and build a following. Your number of followers definitely helps to increase the overall statistics.

But, how?

Pinterest is huge in terms of traffic, leads, and sales. There’s so much that goes into Pinterest. That is why I highly recommend buying a Pinterest course or ebook that walks you through all the steps to use Pinterest for profit. This Pinterest ebook is a wonderful resource for beginners and intermediate bloggers who’ve been on Pinterest for more than a year. Check out the ebook here and avail all other bonuses.

PINTEREST FOR BLOGGERS: 10 INSANELY EASY RULES TO USE PINTEREST

If you’re wondering, how to use Pinterest for blogging then start using these tips to understand how Pinterest works. Let’s quickly follow tips to use Pinterest for bloggers and small business owners.

 1- SHARE OUTSTANDING CONTENT

If you are on Pinterest, you might have noticed pins with 9000, 25000 repins or even more than that.

What’s the reason?

Magical Content.

Always share quality, informative pins. People use Pinterest to get ideas, tips, and other helpful material. As I said, it is a search engine like google. Users type the query and look for answers. The only difference is the format of the content.

On Pinterest, we absorb visual content.

Your visuals bring readers to your website. Your visual plays a key role in increasing sales to your business. The text on the image should have an answer.

When sharing pins, consider the following factors;

  •  An eye-catching headline
  • The content of the blog post.
  • The quality of the pin
  • Stellar pin description with keywords and hashtags
  • Beautifully designed image with unique photos

Great looking pics in two clicks, thanks to PicMonkey's photo editing tools

As a blogger, you have to share content that builds an audience. Choose topics what you write about, or your readers are interested in.

Then, work on your Pinterest content sharing strategy.

2- MAKE GORGEOUS PINS

This might seem like a no-brainer to you, but a gorgeous pin often gets shared a lot of times.

As I mentioned earlier, Pinterest is totally based on visuals. Your image should be appealing to the human eye.

If you have an e-commerce business, create beautiful pins with your amazing products.

Then, aim to drive buyer’s attention through those gorgeous pins.

Designing an image has become a lot easier with graphic designing tools. You don’t need to be an expert to design a stunning image.

Tools like Canva, PicMonkey, Visme can do it for you. Just use the drag and drop features to design a wonderful image. The quality of the image increases the Click through rate.

Try PicMonkey for free here.

However, the quality and design of the image increase the Click through rate.

3- JOIN PINTEREST GROUP BOARDS AND START PINNING

Another rule to use Pinterest for bloggers is through joining Pinterest group boards.

Group boards have several contributing members who share multiple pins throughout the day. Join a few boards and start pinning.

Make sure you read the description of the group board and follow the rules. These group boards give you a free exposure to the larger audience which is quite difficult with your own small board.

Here’s a detailed post on Pinterest Group boards, and how to join them to boost traffic to your own blog?

4- ADD PIN-IT BUTTON TO YOUR BLOG TO GET MORE REPINS

The day you create your Pinterest account, add a PIN IT button to your blog.

It makes the pinning process easy and smooth for users.

The readers can simply click the PIN IT button and your image gets shared on Pinterest.

You can simply install a chrome extension and a plugin to your website.

Here’s how to install a Pinterest Browser Button.

5- PIN EVERY DAY – Don’t always pin your content, promote others

Pinterest is not only about YOU. I repeat. It’s not about YOU. It’s about curating useful content for your audience. Your Pinterest account attracts the audience to your profile. It has to be equipped with relevant content guides, infographics, engaging graphics.

Let’s suppose you are a motivational blogger. You write about inspiring stories, and others how to get motivated content. On Pinterest, you have to pin content that covers a topic related to inspiration and motivation. Make sure, the content is not limited only to your website.
Correct all grammar errors with Grammarly!

Your account needs to have multiple boards covering different topics. One can be for inspiring stories, daily tips, motivational hacks, quotes, success, etc.

Here’s an example;

The Crazy Craft Lady – Visit to see how beautifully she has maintained her account. She has gorgeous group boards, covering multiple topics.

The more you repin, the more impressions your account gets. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to share pins every time.

Set a ratio and stick to it.

I used to pin 70% content of others and 30% of mine. You can follow 80/20 or even 70/30.

Now, as I’ve grown to 15k followers – now, I share 80% of my pins while 20% of other pins.

Be consistent with your sharing strategy and see your blog grow.

6- WRITE IMPRESSIVE PIN DESCRIPTIONS

Using Pinterest isn’t as complicated as people might think. As a blogger, you know how to grab the reader’s attention. You understand how important it is to write good content.

Follow the same strategy while writing a Pin description. Use appropriate keywords, understandable language and easy words. The pin description should tell what your pin is about. It gives an idea about the pin.

Make it as relevant as you can.

7- PICK THE BEST TIMINGS TO PIN

Timings matter a lot on Pinterest. I believe you can determine your own best timing that suits your audience.

Start Pinning on different timings and see what works best. Notice the time when you get best repins?

Once, you have figured out the top-pinning timings schedule your pins with tools like Tailwind.

I highly suggest reading ‘How to find the best times to post on Pinterest’

8- FOLLOW OTHERS IN YOUR NICHE – A trick to get more followers

You can only grow on Pinterest if you follow others. The key to getting success on Pinterest is by observing what others are pinning.

One easy rule to use Pinterest for bloggers is to follow other relevant bloggers and entrepreneurs who write about the same subject. This way, your wall gets new and fresh pins. Your audience will certainly have good content.

Think about it.

9- USE STRATEGIES THAT WORK

If you are a keen internet searcher, you see Pinterest influencers talk about best Pinterest strategies for bloggers and small business owners.

Learn from them. They are into the field from years. They share tested techniques through their content, ebooks, and courses.

It takes time to establish your own strategy.

Why not learn from them?

This is what I believe in and I always do.

Using tailwind for Pinterest is the best decision! If you want to use Pinterest as a traffic generating platform, I highly recommend using tailwind. Get your first month free if you use my link.

You can further check out how I use Tailwind to schedule hundreds of pins and drive traffic every day!

10- IMPLEMENT PINTEREST SEO

This post would have been incomplete if I don’t discuss the importance of Pinterest SEO. If you want your blog to grow on Pinterest, invest to learn about Pinterest Search Engine Optimization.

So much good information, Arfa! Seriously, Pinterest is my biggest traffic source, but I still need these reminders every once in a while.
